Brunch Run scheduled for October 12

Posted by Doug  Published in Club Events

We currently have a Brunch Run scheduled for October 12 but we haven’t had any plans of it until now. Ron was talking with a member of the Dells Area Cruisers car club. He mentioned to Ron that they were getting together with two other car clubs, the Wizards of Rods and the Summer Cruisers.  The plan was to raise money for the local food pantry with a fall color cruise.  The food pantry mentioned which benefits were to be Baraboo, Wisconsin Dells, Mauston, Portage and Spring Green.  It’s a one day cruise on Sunday Oct 12th starting at Nishon Park in Reedsburg. This annual fall ride is open to all and we have been invited to join in. The ride is about 100 miles long beginning at Nishon Park in Reedsburg and stopping for lunch in Wonewoc. They plan to leave Nishon at 10:00 sharp with some scheduled stops along the way and stopping last in Wonewoc about 1:00 for the lunch. The area businesses will be open and you will be on your own for lunch. Some will be bringing a bag lunch (which YOU bring for yourself).

Here is our plan: We will be meeting at the K-Mart parking lot for those who would like to meet in Portage. We will leave Portage at 8:15 sharp. Ron and Kari will be leading the group to Reedsburg. Those who wish to meet in Reedsburg can meet in the Reedsburg Hardware parking lot at the corner of H and 33 and should be there by 8:55. The two groups will plan to meet and drive in to Nishon together. Our thoughts are that our group of Corvettes will stop short of the Wonewoc lunch destination and have the BBQ chicken for lunch in Rockton. We can then continue onto Wonewoc if you wish. We’ll need a count of people who wish to join in on the Rockton Chicken so we can call in a number. We can take that count at the time we meet in Reedsburg. Please look at the attached link to the flier and if you have any questions contact us.

Fall Run

Our Fall Color Run this year is scheduled for October 18, 2008 and we will be traveling northwest to Treasure Island Resort and Casino near Red Wing, MN, along the Great River Road.  We will be meeting in Sauk City, WI early and our trip will cover approximately 235 miles to our destination with lunch along the way.  We hope to arrive early enough to enjoy some of the wonderful options available at the hotel for dinner and entertainment.  If you wish to see visit the website, please go to www.treasureislandcasino.com and look at the dinner cruise possibility, or the entertainment scheduled for that weekend.  Of course, meals, entertainment and gambling will be at an additional cost to you, depending on what you choose.

Our rooms will be $109.00 plus 9.5% tax for Saturday night and we have 30 rooms held.  You will need to call 1-888-867-stay and give them your credit card to hold a room under your name.  The block is currently being held under the Columbia County Corvette Club name.  Once guaranteed to your credit card, cancellation must be made 24 hours prior.  These rooms are held until September 27, 2008 and will be released if not guaranteed by then.  Since there are only 30 rooms held, I would suggest getting your reservation in as soon as possible if you wish to go.  If there are any questions about the trip, just call Chuck or Barb at 493-2187.

Thanks everyone for coming Sunday. We were able to raise ~$450 for the American Cancer Society. I know it’s not easy to give up a beautiful Sunday afternoon in one of the busiest months of the year. That’s what makes it even more special that you gave of your time and your support to this event.

Thanks Again,

Doug & Sue

Website Changes

Posted by Doug  Published in Website

Hats off to our clubs web designer Greg VanBlaricom. He has and is making some exciting changes to our website. The most recent changes are that of the Photo Gallery and Blog Page. This is all new to the club website and looks to be something that people can get involved in as much or as little as they would like. Please take some time to check out the CCCC website( http://www.columbiactycorvetteclub.org/ and keep in mind that this is a work in process. We ask for your patience, we realize that some things like the members list that needs to be updated and we are working on it. I hope that everyone tries to set them selves up a login and password. After that you will be able to post photos and join in on the conversation in the blog page. Feel free to contact me if you have any problems getting set up. I’ll post a link to an instructional 11 page PDF that may help you through the process of setting up your login.
